QUESTIONS ANSWERS
What is the DiP-Pi Power Master? This is our third DiP-Pi based on the same PCB of DiP-Pi PIoT and is covering the most critical parts needed of the Raspberry Pi Pico Extended Powering developments. They are:
• Extended Cable Powering 6V-18V DC
• Battery Powering and charging
• Automatic both ways UPS functionality on all Cable Powering sources (including Raspberry Pi Pico USB powering)
• ON/OFF slide switch functionality on all Powering Sources (including Raspberry Pi Pico USB powering)
• RESET Button
• Embedded 1-wire interface
• Embedded DHT-11/22 Humidity/Temperature Interface
• Plenty of informative LEDs
• Plenty of ready-to-use Micro Python and C examples.
How the DiP-Pi Power Master is powered? The DiP-Pi Power Master is powered through the Raspberry Pi Pico micro–USB Plug, Battery and EPR Socket (6V-18V DC).
What Applications is addressed the DiP-Pi Power Master for?The DiP-Pi Power Master is a smart powering system to be used with Raspberry Pi Pico. It is automatic smart charger (optionally user controllable), Extended Cable Powering 6V-18V DC, micro–USB. With Battery Backup (UPS Functionality), and ON/OFF Slide Switch.
How can I switch ON/OFF the system (DiP-Pi Power Master + Raspberry Pi Pico) without removing the micro–USB Plug? You can switch the system ON/OFF using Slide Switch placed on the DiP-Pi Power Master. This switch will also put to OFF the Raspberry Pi Pico even if it is still connected to the micro–USB Plug (by using the 3V3_EN).
Can I use ON/OFF Slide Switch for system Boot Mode instead of removing micro–USB Plug?Yes, you can use the ON/OFF Slide Switch as a Boot Mode initiator. This will save you from the very unhandy process of removing the micro–USB Plug from the Raspberry Pi Pico.
What about battery back-up (both ways UPS functionality)?Battery powering has been implemented for low power application. Connected battery can be LiPo or Li-Ion chemistry and must have implemented protection PCB – the allowed max current should be not higher than 2A. Batteries with 1C factor are strongly recommended. The implementation of powering scheme in the DiP-Pi Power Master is allows to automatic switch to battery powering when cable powering is absent and back to cable when cable powering is available again (both ways UPS functionality).
Can I use the RESET button for the entering the Boot Mode instead of removing micro–USB Plug?Yes, obviously.
What other interfaces do I have on the DiP-Pi Power Master? The DiP-Pi Power Master is a subset of the DiP-Pi PIoT so the only missing pars are the related to the powering. You still have DHT-11/22 and 1-wire interfaces.
